The latest miniseries from BBC explores one of the most iconic figures in British pop culture via the author who created him. Ian Fleming, the author who birthed the character of James Bond in his series of popular spy novels, was an enigmatic figure, so it’s no surprise BBC wants to profile him with a dramatized retelling of his life story.
In Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond, BBC proposes that the man himself was every bit as interesting as the creation for which he’s best known. Dominic Cooper stars in the title role, playing Fleming as a man for whom the parallels with the darker, more troubled James Bond of the original novels are clearly evident.
